PROJECT BRIEF

-

Nailed It is an online portfolio website for tradespeople. The idea came about when our client, a plumber, recognized an unfilled niche in how tradespeople connect with residential clients. This project was more UX focused and provided in mid-fidelity as our client already had a visual designer.

Business goals:

  • Help tradespeople break into the digital market
  • Create a community for tradespeople to connect with home owners
  • Digitize word of mouth
  • Find a unique selling point in a saturated market

RESEARCH

-

GOOGLE ADWORD

STATISTICS CANADA

Initially my team and I were concerned with saturation in the market. Was there space for Nailed It?

COMPETITIVE COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

We conducted an in-depth competitive analysis on our competitor sites, focusing on the user flow and process of creating an online portfolio.

From there, we clearly found our Unique Selling Point - to create a simple sign up process that was fun, interactive yet simple for our primary persona.

PLANNING

-

Storyboard

To make it easier to understand the purpose of this design and situations of our target users, we created two scenarios representing our primary and secondary personas.

Scenario 1

Scenario 2

DESIGN

-

INTERACTIVE DESIGN

Fun and interactive elements were used during the sign up process to keep our users delight and engaged.

An animated progressive bar with a hammer "nailing it" explains how far the tradespeople had completed their portfolio.

USABILITY TESTING

-

User TESTING

Testing after testing and more testing... We understood much deeper of how our users behave and led us to our final iteration.

ANYMORE?

-

Yes, of course there is much more about this project behind the scene. If you'd like to know more on what I have contributed to make my clients smile, we can chat about it over Belgian hot chocolate.
